Hyderabad, December 13: Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes will conduct public hearing from tomorrow on enhancement of reservations for socially and educationally backward classes among Muslims.
The public hearing to collect opinions from various sections of people will be held at the commission’s office here for four days till December 17.
BC Commission Chairman B. S. Ramulu said the hearing will be held between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The hearing comes days after the Commission of Inquiry constituted by the state government to study the social and educational status of Muslims in Telangana recommended 9-12 percent reservations.
Muslims in Telangana currently enjoy four percent reservation in education and jobs.
The Commission of Inquiry headed by retired IAS officer G. Sudhir submitted its report to the government in August. Its report was made public last week.
The BC Commission has invited all persons interested in the issue to give their opinions/suggestions/objections/representations orally or in written form.
