Vijayawada, December 14: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today said that the proposed outer ring road for Andhra Pradesh Capital Region should connect the towns surrounded by the CRDA area as well as the connecting national highways.
Towns such as Tenali, Gudivada, Nuzvid and Sattennapalle, highways namely, Chennai- Kolkata national highway, Vijayawada –Mumbai national highway, Vijayawada- Jagdalpur national highway and the newly proposed Vijayawada- Anantapur expressway should link the capital city’s outer ring road said the Chief Minister.
At a meeting to review Amaravati development works, he said roads should be designed keeping in mind the present and the future needs.
Naidu said that a detailed proposal of the proposed outer ring road should be submitted to the center.
The Chief Minister studied three options put forth by the commissioner CRDA. Suggesting that ring roads are vital components for increasing connectivity to key activity centers, the Chief Minister asked a officials to make a detailed plan in which the outer ring road is connected all major highways and towns in CRDA. The proposal will be presented in tomorrow’s cabinet meeting.
Once the construction of the outer ring road is completed, development will gear up in towns surrounding it and in the due course they will become a part of the capital city, said the Chief Minister. In addition to the development activities, satellite townships will also come up in large numbers.
