Vijayawada, January 18: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s son and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary N. Lokesh today said he will contest the next elections if the party asks him to do so.
He dismissed as speculation reports that he will be elected to legislative council and inducted into the state cabinet. “This is all speculation. There was no discussion in the party on cabinet expansion,” he told reporters.
Lokesh remarked that he is already in active politics but will go by the party’s decision on contesting 2019 elections.
“I am discharging whatever responsibility is being given to me by the party. I will abide by the party decision in future too. There is no ambiguity on this,” he said.
Lokesh was talking to reporters after inaugurating a photo exhibition on NTR at Siddhartha College on the 21stdeath anniversary of TDP founder and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister.
The TDP leader announced that NTR museum will come up in Amaravati with rare pictures and belongings of NTR from his personal, film and political life. He appealed to the thespian’s fans to come forward and contribute for the museum.
Paying rich tributes to NTR, Lokesh said he was a great leader who brought recognition to Telugu people.
Stating that NTR left indelible mark in films and politics, the TDP leader demanded that Bharat Ratna be conferred on him.
