Hyderabad, February 3: The redesigning of irrigation projects by Telangana government has imposed a burden of Rs.20,000 crore on people, said TDP state working president Revanth Reddy.

He appealed to people to understand the burden imposed on them by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government through redesigning of the projects.

Revanth also claimed that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is awarding contracts for the projects to contractors from Andhra Pradesh to get commissions.

The TDP leader asked the government to explain why it increased the capacity of Pochampally reservoir to 21 TMC and later reduced to seven TMC. He said this was done to benefit the family of KCR.

He alleged that the government cheated the farmers by making false claims about Mallanna Sagar project being taken up at a cost of Rs.7,300 crore. He pointed out that the government initially said 50 TMC water will be available with the project but is now stating that only 30 TMC will be available.

He said during Telangana movement, KCR used to be with Kodandaram, Gaddar, Manda Krishna Madiga and Vimalakka but now he is seen with likes of K. V. P. Ramachandra Rao, Chinnajeeyar Swamy and Rameswar Rao.

The TDP leader said KCR used Telangana sentiment but after the formation of Telangana state, betrayed the intellectuals who participated in the movement. He said TDP would continue to fight against anti-Telangana policies of KCR.
