Andhra to introduce ‘Talliki Vandanam’ in schools

Amaravati, February 13: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu today announced that a unique programme `Talliki Vandanam’ will soon be introduced in all schools in the state.

Under this unique programme, the students will clean the feet of their mothers in schools.

Addressing the valedictory function of three-day National Women’s Parliament, he said the state would witness development only when women are respected.

He advised students to inculcate the culture and traditions of the country and pointed out that respecting women is a tradition of our country.

Naidu said Andhra Pradesh will be ahead in implementing programmes to achieve women’s empowerment. He said women should get inspiration from women achievers to reach their goals.

He said that he would extend support to women until they achieve empowerment. He feels that women need support to achieve their goals and reach top positions.

The Chief Minister said that women should utilise the available opportunities to shine in their respective fields. He said women have plenty of opportunities to achieve economic development.

Stressing the need for 33 per cent reservation for women in parliament, he said the Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan should take lead to achieve reservation for women with the support of different political parties.

The Chief Minister said 54 round table meetings were conducted during the three day conclave on various issues of women including higher education, justice, nutrition, women power and social development.
